Gradhermetic promotes the development of industrialized folding balconies with the support of CDTI and European Funds
Gradhermetic is developing a new industrialized folding balcony system that will simplify the installation of lightweight balconies on façades and optimize construction processes through industrialized solutions.
This innovation project is supported by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology and Innovation (CDTI) and is co-financed by the European Union through European Funds, within programmes aimed at promoting research and technological development in the industrial sector.
The initiative combines Gradhermetic’s experience in construction systems with the initial idea and patent of architect Vicenç Sarrablo, professor at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona), with whom the company maintains a collaboration agreement for the development of this technology.
Innovation for the industrialization of construction
The project aims to design and validate a new industrialized folding balcony system (BIP) that will:
- Reduce installation times on site
- Minimize interference during the construction process
- Facilitate transport and handling of the system
- Improve efficiency in the execution of lightweight façade balconies
This approach addresses one of the major current challenges of the sector: advancing towards more industrialized, efficient and sustainable construction models.
University–industry collaboration
The development of the system is carried out in collaboration with UIC Barcelona, strengthening the link between academic research and industrial application.
This cooperation makes it possible to combine technological innovation, architectural knowledge and industrial capacity, accelerating the transfer of innovative solutions to the construction market.
