Education and the exchange of experience, key to promoting more efficient architecture

At Gradhermetic, we believe that innovation is not only about developing new architectural solutions, but also about sharing the knowledge behind them. For this reason, over the last few months we have had the pleasure of welcoming Architecture students from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) to our facilities for two sessions dedicated to learning, exchanging ideas and strengthening the connection between university and industry.

These visits allow future architects to gain first-hand insight into how the solutions that will later become part of their projects are developed, understanding both the manufacturing process and the technical criteria that influence building design and performance.

A tour through the manufacturing process

Both sessions began with a guided tour of our factory, where the students discovered the different stages of Gradhermetic's production process.

During the tour, they learned how our solar shading systems, architectural louvres, shutters and metal ceilings are manufactured, as well as the quality controls and innovation processes involved in the development of every project.

This direct contact with the industrial environment enabled them to understand the importance of manufacturing in the feasibility and final performance of architectural solutions.

Solar control applied to contemporary architecture

Following the factory visit, the students attended a technical session focused on the role of solar control in today's architecture.

During the presentation, we shared how Gradhermetic's solutions contribute to improving the energy efficiency of buildings, increasing user comfort and adding aesthetic value to façades and architectural spaces. We also analysed different real-life applications and the criteria that architects and designers take into account when integrating solar shading systems into their projects.

The day concluded in our showroom, where the students were able to closely observe the different systems, ask questions and discover practical case studies showing how these solutions adapt to different types of buildings.

Bringing industry closer to new generations

Collaboration between universities and industry is essential to prepare the professionals who will design the architecture of the future. Gaining first-hand knowledge of manufacturing processes, the technical possibilities of products and their on-site performance provides a valuable complement to academic education.

At Gradhermetic, we are committed to opening our doors to students, architects and professionals in order to encourage the exchange of knowledge and demonstrate how innovation, design and energy efficiency can go hand in hand in contemporary architecture.

We would like to thank the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) for their interest and participation in these sessions. It has been a pleasure to share our experience with the future professionals of the sector and to continue building knowledge together.
